All Ostomates are invited to attend their nearest support group meetings held on a regular basis around the state. These meetings are especially recommended for new ostomates, providing valuable support and information.
Adrian Kok is the volunteer state coordinator for Ostomates Support Groups based in Launceston, Ulverstone, and Hobart - covering the North, North-West and Southern regions. Adrian states... "Living with a Stoma can have its own challenges no matter how long you have had it. Meeting other people with similar problems and being able to talk to people who understand in a private setting makes a big difference to a lot of people."
The meeting days are held on a regular basis (usually March, June, September and December), and are normally around 2hrs in duration. These meetings can often have Stoma Therapy Nurses and/or company representatives in attendance to discuss the most up to date advice on new products and the latest medical developments.
Please RSVP to Adrian Kok on 0498196059 or email

Notification service for eParcel delivery, and collects

Ostomy Tasmania have now changed to eParcel delivery with Australia Post. This does not alter the time parcels leave our office, however Australia Post now handles the notification service for orders requiring parcel delivery, via mobile phone SMS and email. If you have a mobile (and/or email) and would like to be included please let us know and we will endeavour to add your details to the Australia Post eParcel notification service.
NB: Once we upload the data to Australia Post eParcel online Ostomy Tasmania is not responsible for the efficiency or accuracy of this service.
If you have a query in relation to this service please contact Australia Post direct, however if you need to change the contact details you still need to let us know.
Ostomy Tasmania will continue to issue regular notification reminders for those that collect from our office.

Volunteers Needed!!

Ostomy Tasmania would be unable to provide our service to members without the valuable assistance provided by our volunteers. Volunteers receive and warehouse stock, pick and pack orders and prepare parcels for distribution by Australia Post. Volunteers also assist with IT, database and website management. We are extremely grateful for the contribution they make.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, and can commit to a regular time period on one or more of Monday, Tuesday or Thursday mornings, we would welcome your help. Please contact Sue on 6228 0799 or email

Great Comebacks program

The Great Comebacks® Program began in 1984 under the leadership of Rolf Benirschke, with support from ConvaTec. It was designed to raise awareness of quality of life issues for people living with Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, colorectal cancer or other diseases that can lead to ostomy surgery. Today the Great Comebacks community has spread far beyond its original borders, raising awareness around the globe through inspirational individuals who have chosen to share their stories and offer hope to others facing these diseases and transitioning to life after surgery.
